Norbert Reithofer started out by presenting the new BMW i3 Concept Coupe, the car of the future from BMW. We already told you everything about the i3 but hearing it from the Chairman of the Board of Management over at BMW is as official as it gets.

As we thought, the development of the i3 gave BMW the chance to develop new materials and technologies that could be used in the future on all BMW cars, materials such as Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer, or CFRP. As Reithofer confirmed, this material will be used on future BMW cars (like the new X5 or the G11 7 Series) in order to make the cars even lighter and less polluting.

Dr. Herbert Diess took over after the i3 presentation in order to properly introduce, as a world premiere, the new BMW 3 Series GT. As usual BMW is a trendsetter and the 3er GT proves this trait of character of the propeller badged manufacturer once again as the new F34 is the first of its kind.

We already know about the features on the new GT, like the active spoiler, the 40:20:40 folding backseat, and the engines that will be available at first, but Diess gave us some additional info. New features on the 3 Series GT will be focusing on even better fuel consumption and lower emissions. In this regard, the F34 BMW will have additional features like brake energy regeneration, the new ECO PRO driving mode and the ECO PRO Route function which will further reduce the fuel consumption with up to 20%.
