Hennessey Working on Charger Hellcat Upgrade, Here’s the First Dyno Run

Now that people might have gotten a bit tired of racing Hellcats against supercars due to the already-predictable results, it’s time for the tuners to step in.
Sure, we’ve seen a few kits for SRT’s blown 6.2-liter V8 so far, but we are here to talk about what will be one of the most serious developments of this kind.

Hennessey is now working on a Charger Hellcat upgrade, with the Texan tuner having just released the first dyno video. As usual, this shows the muscle sedan in stock from. When it comes to the output at the wheels, we are dealing with 639.5 hp and 571.3 lb-ft (774.5 Nm) of torque. We have to explain this is the usual smile-inducing output of a stock Hellcat.

We have no clues yet as to how far the Lone Star State tuner will push the Hellcat, but there are some things that indicate we’ll end up with a cat trained in Allien Hell.

For one thing, the Hellcat, albeit in Challenger incarnation, has been taken to somewhere between 800 and 900 hp so far, so we can expect big blown things from Hennessey.

Remember, this is the tuner that took a Camaro Z/28 and strapped a blower to its 7-liter V8, giving us an 1,000 hp take on the track-savvy muscle car.

Speaking of the Challenger Hellcat, we’ll remind you Hennessey’s dyno welcomed the machine back in July, but they haven’t published any additional info yet. In fact, the tuner got to play with one of the Yellow Challenger Hellcats that starred in the Penzoil Airlift Drift commercial.

We’re not sure the hydraulic handbrake installed for the ad is there, but we want to focus on the muscle, so we won't be bothered by that detail for now.
