The car-loving comedian Jay Leno finally gets to drive a road-legal version of the Venom GT, a 1200 horsepower monster on wheels. He says he thought the Lotus-based beast would never become legal in the States, but here it is, in it’s yellow flesh together with its creator John Hennessey.
With just 10 examples being built every year, it's safe to say that the 2011 Hennessey Venom GT is one rare supercar you are very unlikely to lay your hands on. ased loosely on the Lotus Elise, the Venom GT combines the lightweight British-built chassis with a powerful American V8 engine. Hennessey has stayed true to the Lotus philosophy of “performance through light weight” by making all of the Venom GT’s bodywork out of carbon-fiber.
The power for the car comes from Corvette ZR1 engine that’s available in various stages of tune, starting from 725 hp and going all the way up to the monstrous twin-turbocharged version with more than 1,200 horsepower on tap that you see in this video.
