Hennessey's Naturally Aspirated 2016 Camaro SS Sounds like the Devil at the Gym

The word "frenzy" is probably an understatement when it comes to describing the state experienced by aftermarket developers once 2016 Camaro SS deliveries kicked off late last year.

In less than a month, the Corvette-engined Camaro has received all three major power adders, with various tuners installing a nitrous kit, a supercharger, as well as a twin-turbo setup. Frankly, a sixth-gen Camaro SS that can pull 9s quarter mile runs is not even such a big deal anymore, simply because we already have multiple cars capable of shaving almost three seconds off the standard machine's time.

In this modding madness, people seem to have forgotten that some of the sixth-gen customers out there simply want to sit back and enjoy the naturally aspirated virtues of the LT1 engine. In a world where atmospheric engines are starting to turn into an endangered species, it's hard to hold anything against these people.

Well, Hennessey seems to have caught the drift (no pun intended), with the Texan tuner now releasing an atmospheric 2016 Camaro SS package that delivers a respectable muscle workout.

In HPE500 trim, the Camaro SS delivers an output premium of over 35 hp and just as many lb-ft at the rear wheels. To be more precise, the HPE500 Camaro SS was dynoed at 465.7 hp and 457.3 lb-ft (remember, these are the values at the wheels).

Here are the contents of the kit:

• 1.75-inch stainless steel long-tube headers
• Stainless steel mid-pipe exhaust upgrade
• High-flow catalytic converters
• HPE engine management upgrade & chassis dyno calibration
• High-flow air filter element (replaces the factory air filter in the airbox)
• Professional installation
• All necessary gaskets & fluids
• Chassis dyno testing. You’ll receive a before & after dyno graph report showing power and torque measured at the rear wheels
• Road testing (up to 100 miles)
• Hennessey exterior badge (rear)
• HPE500 Powered by Hennessey badges (side & rear)
• Hennessey HPE500 serial numbered plaque signed by John Hennessey (interior)
• Hennessey HPE500 serial numbered plaque signed by the HPE technician who builds you car (engine bay)
• Powered by Hennessey premium floor mats
• Serial numbered Certificate of Authenticity personally signed by John Hennessey.
• 3 Year / 36,000 mile limited warranty.

Oh, and if this particular 2016 Camaro SS seems familiar, it's probably because we're dealing with the car whose baseline dyno kicked off the madness about the Camaro SS beating the C7 'Vette on the dyno (episode 1 and 2).
