Hennessey Performance Engineering is synonymous with go-faster machines. From the GMC Sierra pickup truck to the 2017 Ford GT and 2017 Acura NSX, Hennessey can modify them all. The Houston-based tuning house is specializing in upping the ante in terms of horsepower. For this reason alone, Hennessey uses the Lonestar Motorsports Park to test its high-powered creations. Curiously enough, the property is now for sale for $2.7 million.
According to a listing on racingjunk, Hennessey Performance Engineering is parting ways with the quarter-mile drag strip located near Houston, Texas, on Interstate 10. It’s a 55-acre property that prides itself on “air-conditioned concessions stands, grandstands with seating for 800, staging lanes, control tower, lights, timing equipment, fuel barn and more.”
For an undisclosed premium, Hennessey will sell an additional 70 acres of land adjacent to the facility. John Hennessey, the owner of the tuning company and the IHRA sanctioned facility, suggests that the property can be expanded into a road race course. Speaking to Stef Schrader of Jalopnik, John said that he is selling the property because “we've owned it about a dozen years and it’s worth more now.” In other words, for profit.
Fret not, though, because Hennessey Performance Engineering isn’t having financial difficulties. In fact, the money from the sale would be reinvested into expanding the tuning company, one-upping yearly production from 400 vehicles to more than 1,000. It should be mentioned that the Hennessey Performance facility adjacent to the drag strip isn’t for sale.
If you’re interested in having your very own quarter-mile strip of asphalt, you can call John Hennessey at 713-828-7676 and sweet-talk your way into ownership. You’d better make haste, otherwise someone else will buy it. Oh, and another thing: no brokers or trades, please.
