There are lots of American tuning houses in the wonderful world of steroid-pumped Chevrolet Corvettes, but few names echo as loud as Hennessey Performance. For quite a few years now, the Texas-based shop has churn out an unquantifiable number of burnout-happy rides, including the Lotus Exige-based Venom GT.
Expensive stuff aside, how does a mildly steroidized Vette fair with 707 horsepower and 661 lb-ft on tap? That's exactly what John Hennessey himself wanted to find out. Further more, fans of the tuning company haven't been forgotten, so he brought a few GoPro action cameras along to film the blown Corvette Stingray's test-drive.
You might remember that the car in question was dyno tested a little while back and the machine recorded 610 rear wheel horsepower and 557 lb-ft (755 Nm) of tire-shredding torque. Too little, enough or too much oomph, it's anybody's guess how that kind of firepower feels like out on the open road unless you actually test-drive the damn thing.
So how does the 6.2-liter LT1 supercharged V8 tower-of-power feel like from behind the wheel? Well, it's a pretty loud beast, that's for sure. It also accelerates like a bat out of hell even if you just tickle the throttle pedal, just as Mr. Hennessey demonstrates in the video below. If you dare to go pedal to the metal with it, you'd better hang on tight 'cause it's pretty similar to engaging Warp Drive on the Enterprise.
