Hennessey Grabs 2016 Camaro SS, Does Monster Burnout as Break-In Procedure

When the crew over at Hennessey Performance get their hands on a new muscle car, they have strict procedures regarding the break-in process. The first rule in their book says the other rules can be left aside when a machine such as the 2016 Camaro SS lands, so the Lone Star State tuner decided to stretch the Chevy’s mechanical legs from the get-go.

To be more precise, Hennessey brought a 2016 Camaro SS automatic in front of its workshop and pulled a massive burnout, with enough smoke to make this hooning episode memorable.

Those of you who are tempted to say the Texan aftermarket developer should take its time when it comes to brand spanking new vehicles should know that the competition from smaller tuners is more than fierce.

Heck, the 2016 Camaro SS has already descended into the 10s quarter mile arena, courtesy of a nitrous shot after only 200 miles or so of ownership. So don’t expect names such as Hennessey to go on a roadtrip to complete the break-in process.

In fact, Hennessey kicked off its 2016 Camaro SS development program with quite a bang, as the dyno video of the car proved the Camaro might just make more power than the C7 Corvette Stingray that offered the muscle car its LT1 engine.

Do hold your breath for Hennessey's take on the MY16 Camaro SS

The tuner still hasn’t announced any details for its sixth-gen Camaro program, but with development taking place at V8-ish pace, we expect this to change soon.

The customer demand for 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS aftermarket goodies is massive, with tuners currently in a race to deliver packages that allow the Chevy to take on supercars in a straight line. Then again, when GM gifts the Camaro SS with all-round dynamics worthy of a sportscar, you’d expect this to happen.
