Help These Cute Girls Fix Their 1967 Jeep Postal Van to Deliver Tea with It

Two ladies from West Oakland, California have fallen in love with tea. Yes, with tea. They started making loose original and organic tea blends and founded a shop that grew into a small batch tea provider. They recently bought a dusty 1967 Jeep Postal Truck and need Kickstarter bidders to fix and turn it into a tea-mobile. Want to help?

Before we look into their story, we need to learn a little more of the vehicle in question. We’re looking at a classic Jeep DJ. Also known as the Dispatcher Jeep, it was a two-wheel-drive variant of the CJ series. Production started in 1955 by Willys, which later turned into Kaiser Keep in 1963. Seven years later, American Motors bought it and created AM General, a wholly owned subsidiary, that built this model through 1983.

The beautiful tea-ladies claim we’re looking at a 1967 model, which means it’s a right hand drive DJ-5 Dispatcher 100 first introduced in 1965. It was based on the CJ-5 and used the Hurricane and Dauntless engines.

On the other hand, we know that the postal Jeeps were introduced sometime later, in 1971. Whatever the case may be, we are dealing with a funny classic, and it’s all that matters at this point.

We also appreciate the ladies’ plans to encourage people to stop and relax for a change. Here’s how they put it: “Our menu is simple, fresh and approachable. We don’t want tea to be fussy - it is as simple as grabbing a cup of joe in the morning. We want to show people that it is an easy, healthy, and fun habit and encourage people to slow down and enjoy the moment. Get steeped or die trying. “

What’s even better is that they also have big plans for their small truck. They want to remodel the exterior, which includes a new pop-top roof, a generator, and, of course, a fresh paint job. Then, there’s most of the interior a tea shop on wheels needs they want to install. For this restoration, the ladies are asking for a little help on Kickstarter.
