Help Kahn Save the Land Rover Defender

The fact that Jaguar Land Rover plans to axe the Land Rover Defender past 2015 has upset many enthusiasts and loyal owners.Truth be told, we're not too happy about Land Rover's decision in this matter, and that's why we decided to join A.Kahn Design in their efforts to save 30-year-old off-road vehicle.

In production since 1983, the Land Rover Defender is one of the last true workhorses the automotive market has to offer, along with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class., and it’s been used in so many fields up until now that it would take us quite a while to put them all together. That alone is a strong argument to keep the Defender rolling, but there are many more to be summoned. But time is precious, so we’ll leave you with Kahn’s very own statement below. Those that want to petition Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr. Ralf Speth, can do so by following this link.

“What do Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Fourth Bridge, The Shard, Windsor Castle & The Land Rover Defender, have in common? They are all intrinsically & indisputably examples of iconic British creations. That is something that cannot be argued with. Yet one of those iconic pieces of Britishness in under threat. The Land Rover Defender the last of the icons of British motor industry. It is the ultimate workhorse, unmatched in it’s field. Since the first one rolled off the production line in 1983 as the 110, the Defender has been turned to almost every line of work.

It has been a farm vehicle, a police car, a mountain rescue vehicle, an ambulance, an expedition vehicle... the list goes on. The British Army, as well as every army across the globe, have a long history of using the Defender. Even the US Army has used Defenders, after realizing these were a more capable vehicle than their own Humvees. We, enthusiasts and owners, must save this iconic vehicle. We have begun a petition in an attempt to persuade Jaguar Land Rover to reverse their decision & would be prepared to present the petition in person to 10 Downing Street. We cannot let yet another British icon be killed off. Not when it still has much work to do.”
