Hello Kitty Motor Oil by Agip

Finally, the moment all little girls were waiting for: a new Hello Kitty-branded product has surfaced. Now don’t get all excited, girls, as you will probably only be able to use this product when you will be old enough to own and drive a car. Oh, and only if you are Japanese.

The Hello Kitty creation in question is, in fact, a motor oil from Agip, stylefrizz.com reveals. No, we’re not kidding. The new motor oil is a collaboration between the Italian oil company and Japanese company Hello Kitty.

Well, if you ask us, the marketing team were not that well inspired and we wish the image was a photoshop trick. After all, it makes you think at little Japanese girls and lubricants. But let's not go there... Unfortunately this is for real, but as long as it stays in Japan we can learn to deal with it. It’s even easier to understand if we see it as a means to make money.

Since the fact that some of you may not be familiar with the Hello Kitty stuff crossed our minds, let us introduce you to the Japanese fever: It’s a fictional character in the form of a female white bobtail cat with a red bow. Well, as hard to understand as it may be, the Hello Kitty trademark is generating more than $1 billion annually.

Aside from Agip’s motor oil the Hello Kitty-branded range of products include dolls, stickers, greeting cards, clothes, accessories, school supplies, dishes and home appliances. By the way things look, Hello Kitty is one step closer to world domination...

The oil is available in 3 liter SAE 5W30 specification and will be imported to Japan by Showa Boeki with a retail price of 2980 YEN (aprox. $33 at the current exchange rate).
