As far as tuning projects go, few and far between are as hard to accomplish as a 6x6 conversion. This Jeep Wrangler takes things to the next level, adding a dash of 6.2-liter HEMI V8 on top.
The Hellcat engine with its thumpin’ great supercharger is nothing short of a serious upgrade compared to the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that came as standard in the JK Wrangler. As if 707 horsepower, 650 pound-feet of torque, and six-wheel drive weren’t enough, this off-road work of wonder also happens to sport a bed and tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
That’s right, ladies and gentlemen; what Huntington Beach-based Wild Boar Off-Road has created this time around is a no-nonsense sport utility truck with 35-inch all-terrain tires, bi-tone wheels, and a 5.0-inch lift kit! Bringing the point home, two LED light bars and a carbon-fiber hood scoop are also featured.
Created for this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the overlanding behemoth benefits from steel bumpers with heavy-duty tow hooks, winch and bull bar, gloss-black wheel arch extensions, and an angry-looking fascia. Based off the Rubicon, this fellow features “high-quality materials and craftsmanship” according to the people who created it.
Of all the outlets specialized in selling cars, Wild Boar Off-Road took to Craigslist to part ways with the Hellcat-engined leviathan. The asking price is $289,900, and as much as we’re inclined to call BS on this amount, don’t forget how much Hennessey Performance Engineering is charging for the VelociRaptor 6x6.
Speaking of the Texas-based tuner, Hennessey is also much obliged to swap the EcoBoost V6 for the Coyote V8 and a supercharger as long as you’re prepared to foot the bill. What’s more, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado can be converted into a six-wheeled sport utility truck for $375,000.
The 6x6 trend kicked into overdrive after Mercedes-Benz and AMG created the G63 with six wheels, produced between 2013 to 2015 by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. The Geländewagen to rule all Geländewagen models has been developed from the six-wheeled military vehicle the three-pointed star developed for the Australian Army in 2007.
