The Pontiac Aztek used to be one of the front runners for the title of Ugliest Car in the World. However, it comes from an ear of bad design - Chevrolet HHR, Buick Rendezvous and others like them were best forgotten.
But a certain TV show about a certain high school teacher turned methamphetamine drug maker brought the Aztek to everyone's attention. That's probably why you can find used examples selling online for $5,000 or more.
But other than buying one, shaving your head and pretending to be Walter White, what else can you do with an Aztek? Well, you could turn one into a crazy tuning project.
Back in the day, only a few people dared to put more money into this supposedly worthless vehicle. But seeing as it's known as a world-record ugly vehicle, 3D artists are toying with the design to see what they can come up with.
The changes were made in Blender, not Photoshop. So in theory, you could buy the model and 3D-print your own widebody kit. It's an aggressive one at that, seemingly adding about a foot of width. New bumpers have also been grafted, along with extra track-focused aero and a giant spoiler over the back.
As if that wasn't enough, the Aztek also sports big wheels and modified suspension in the hellaflush style. But when it's this aggressive, people like to call it "hellafail."
At about 182 inches long, the Aztek is quite small by modern SUV standards. Weighing about 3,800lbs, it was only ever available with one powertrain, a 3.4-liter LA1 V6, pushing 185 horsepower and 210 lb-ft through a 4-speed automatic. Yeah, it was pretty slow.
