Heffner Performance Lamborghini Huracan Twin-Turbo DCT Breaks 1/4-Mile Record

One day. That's how long it took for the Lamborghini Huracan dual-clutch (DCT) quarter mile world record to fall. However, the Huracan drag racing scene is incredibly effervescent these days, so we'll have to explain the new record.

The shenanigan kicked off on March 16, when Underground Racing's twin-turbo DCT Huracan managed to pull an impressive 8.55s pass at 164.75 mph (265 km/h).

On March 17, Heffner Performance's TT DCT Huracan hit the drag strip, as you'll be able to see in the piece of footage below. And the boosted Raging Bull delivered an 8.3s run, at 176 mph (make that 283 km/h), grabbing both the ET and the trap speed sides of the record.

Now, as we mentioned above, while last year the aftermarket world was only playing with the still-new Huracan platform, Lambo's V10 beast is now getting serious attention from tuners.

And in order for the current battle to be completely attention-worthy, Heffner Performance's machine comes in Green (with a Chrome finish), while Underground Racing's UR1 (the nickname of their Huracan) is dressed in Red. Still, given the pace at which the 1,320 feet war is taking place, we wouldn't bet on the new record lasting for too long.

The dual-clutch side of the equation is crucial, since, at least in theory, this guarantees the Huracan keeps its streetability factor. For one thing, all-out racecars, such as Underground Racing's UR1, come with sequential transmissions that can take almost double the power.

Speaking of which, while Heffner Performance hasn't listed the specs for its Sant'Agata Bolognese creation, UR2 comes with 1,250 hp. You know, the kind of power you need on a street car.

It's interesting to see how tuners strive to deliver twin-turbo incarnations of the Huracan that are faster and faster, while Lamborghini remains the last "large-scale" supercar producer dedicated entirely to natural aspiration.
