Hayden's Laguna Seca Helmet Auctioned for Charity

The helmet that Nicky Hayden wore at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP is currently being auctioned on eBay thanks to a partnership between the 27-year-old rider, Ducati and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Nicky unveiled this special helmet two weeks ago at his first race at Indianapolis aboard a Ducati and took his first podium of the year and his first podium while riding for the Italian team.

The helmet has been made by Arai, the renowned Japanese manufacturer.

The motorcycle model in question is the RX-7, also tested by other GP riders, including Dani Pedrosa, Colin Edwards, John Hopkins, Shinya Nakano, Yuki Takahashi, Hiroshi Aoyama, but also Freddie Spencer and Randy Mamola.

The hand painted helmet is signed by Nicky and comes with a letter of authenticity from Starline Designers.

In honor of the new Nicky Hayden Edition 848, the opening bid on the helmet is of $848. Bidding can be placed here, until October 2, 2009.

"I was really proud of how the helmet turned out for Indy and the vibe that it got,"
said Nicky.

"It was truly a very special helmet and it was an honor to wear. I know how lucky I am and feel that it's my duty to try to give something back when possible. What better way than by helping make kids dreams come true. It's great to be part of Make A Wish. I've been a part of their team for 5 years and have done some neat things which always puts smiles on faces!
