Hayden Fumes at Takahashi for Irresponsible Move

Nicky Hayden blamed MotoGP rookie and home crowd favorite Yuki Takahashi for his careless riding during the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday. The Scot Racing rider pushed Hayden's Ducati into the Motegi gravel in the very first lap of the race, sending the Kentucky-born driver packing to the Ducati garage.

Having spent so little time on the Motegi track on Sunday, the North American rider wanted to hear nothing about an apology from Takahashi. Despite starting from a poor 12th place on the grid, Hayden was looking to improve his previous performance this season, in Qatar (12th place). Not to talk about spending a little more time with his Ducati, having had so little time throughout the weekend – due to the cancelation of the Saturday qualifying because of the heavy rain.

In the gravel trap I tried to ask Takahashi what he was doing; I guess he apologized, but I’m not too big on ‘sorrys’. I know that it’s a home race, and that there’s a lot of pressure, but that’s no excuse for trying to be a hero and take somebody out. It’s a race, and we’ve all done it,” argued Hayden after the race, as reported by MotoGP's official site.

It was exactly what we didn’t need. I got a decent start, then just going into the hairpin I just felt somebody hit me and that was it. We could have done with the experience, more than anything, as I need some laps on this bike,” added the the “Kentucky Kid”.

With the Spanish Grand Prix only one week away, Hayden said he already improved his communication with the Ducati mechanics and hopes it will lead to better racing in Europe. The race at Jerez is scheduled this weekend and will mark MotoGP's European debut this season.

This week I felt like I had better communication, and understood people better. We’ve got another race coming up, and I’m in good shape at least,” concluded the North-American rider.
