Having an Old Car Doesn't Mean You Lack Power, Especially When It's a BMW

Just yesterday we saw a pretty amazing clip showing what you can do with your BMW despite age and weather conditions.
The video below shows a BMW E30 drifting on ice. That might be an image that we're accustomed to. After all the E30 didn't have the high-performance DSC that current day BMWs have. So going sideways was actually more of a problem than a desired situation.

The most powerful BMW E30 was the M3. In case of the E30 M3 we had a number of different engines. The most powerful was the S14 EVO 3 engine. It was a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine developing 235 HP and 240 Nm of torque.

The thing is that with BMWs, nobody considers power a limitation. The car in the video for example, has 800 HP even though it's more than 20 years old. Of course, the engine was changed to, probably a E46 6-cylinder inline S54 engine that has been known for being tuned up to around 800 HP.

That is the essence of BMWs. That is why we love these cars. It's that you can buy a BMW and keep it for 20-30 years and still enjoy driving it every day. That is the sheer driving experience.

PS: Just listen to the engine in this video.
