Brand loyalty must not be underestimated. We all suffer from it one way or another, and it can sometimes push us toward very bad purchase decisions. For instance, we may end up spending way more than we should on a Mercedes-Benz bicycle just because it has the three-pointed star painted on it, ignoring the fact the same bike costs half as much when bought from its manufacturer.
Car companies are well aware of this and are always ready to exploit our weakness. You just need to go to any dealership shop and have a look at what it's selling.
