They say cats have 9 lives, and Harley just lost 2 of them, after being involved in a serious accident. He is ok now, but has only 7 lives left.
It all happened upstate New York, in the rural town of Grafton, just outside Albany. Police received a call to report a cat had been hit by a car, and the trooper who arrived on the scene found the feline on the shoulder of State Route 2, the Daily Gazette reports.
He was in pretty bad shape, as was to be expected. He was hit by a car after jumping on the road, was thrown into the air and then hit by another car coming from the opposite direction. It was, in short, the kind of accident you see in movies, which only the main hero can survive.
Well, it turns out Harley is a little furry hero on his own. Though having suffered serious head and leg injuries, he was still conscious when the trooper arrived. He took the cat to the Brunswick Veterinary Hospital, where he was treated.
Harley spent the next days there because he had no tag to help the staff identify his humans. So staff turned to social media to track them down, posting the photo of a banged-up Harley and the request to spread the word until the owners were found.
In a matter of days, staff at the Hospital posted an update to say the owners had come forward. Right now, Harley is back at home, with his humans, recovering from the serious accident. It is believed he will make a full recovery in time.
Next time, Harley might want to steer clear of busy roads and keep close to his home, as good kittens do. Unless he learns a thing or two about how traffic works and what to do to be safe.
