Harley-Davidson Worldwide Figures Up in Q2

Harley-Davidson Worldwide Figures Up in Q2 1 photo
Harley-Davidson shows the figures for the second quarter of 2013 and it looks like the Milwaukee manufacturer is going up.
The Motor Company reports a 5.2% increase in the worldwide retail sales, with a whopping 39.2% increase in Latin America. This massive surge might be caused by H-D opening a dealership in Brazil at the end of June, adding to the existing 103 non-US dealerships Harley opened since late 2009.

Dilluted earnings per share surged 13.1 percent, from $1.07 (€0.81) in Q2 2012 to $1.21 (€0.92), while the net income was $271.7 million (€206.75 million) with $1.79 billion (€1.36 billion), compared to the net income of $247.3 million (€188.18 million) and $1.73 billion (€1.31 billion) of the same year-go period.

Worldwide dealers pushed 90,193 bikes in Q2 2013, a nice increase from the 85,714 units they sold last year in the same quarter. During the first six months, this year's total worldwide sales figures are a bit smaller than those recorded in the first half of 2012: 144,447 versus 145,391, respectively.

Another big increase was recorded in the motorcycle and related products combined, a hefty 15.5 %, while MotorClothes apparel and accessories sales went up 8.7%. Adding in the controversy around H-D's operations in in Australia, these figures are not exactly pinpoint-accurate.

Indian Motorcycles' 2014 Indian Chief is the big contender to Harley's clearly dominant position, and will be officially launched quite soon at Sturgis; we're looking forward to see how will it fare, especially as we saw it pre-selling like hot cakes in Australia. Via Cyril Huze.
