Jim Carducci is not exactly the Average Joe rider: with more than 40 years spend on, under and around bikes, and 32 years of design engineering experience, he finally took a step few otrhers dare, and built the SC3 Adventure, the first true dual-sport Harley-Davidson.
As a donor bike Jim chose a 2003 100th Anniversary Sportster and upped the ante with an NRHS 1250cc kit and new Andrews N4 cams to provide the engine with more brawn in the off-road range. Öhlins provided the fork and special rear piggyback shocks to support the weight of the Harley, and offer the much needed suspension travel for trail riding.

A custom tank and billet aluminium swingarm were designed and fitted on the bike, together with the classic 18-21" enduro Sun rims and a Talon front hub. Joker Machine supplied the foot pegs, while a Biltwell aluminium handlebar was loaded in Jim's custom triple clamp with vibration-insulated risers and integrated Scott steering damper.

Other off-road additions were installed, such as the crashbars, small windshield, skidplate, high plastic fender, Corbin seat and small pannier racks. So far the Carducci SC3 Adventure breathes through dual SuperTrapp silencers, but Jim has plans to change them for offering better standing ride position.

It took Jim two and a half years to build the SC3 Adventure, but San Jose Harley-Davidson already approached Jim to build more such bikes for willing customers. And since he said "yes", we can only wait to see more of his stunning dual-sport Harleys on the trails around the globe.
