It’s really nice to see Harley-Davidson acknowledging the superiority of full-face and modular helmets over that of retro ones and the poor excuse for a proper helmets braincaps can offer. So here’s the Visionary modular helmet, a lid which offers safety-focused Harley customers the extra protection they dream of.
Still, when compared to other modern flip-up helmets, the Harley Visionary is not exactly Visionary, if you get my point. It may look like a modern designed compared to what the 70’s used to be, but you’re not looking at a Schuberth. However, it’s obvious that Harley-Davidson wanted to keep things this way, because a company that big could indeed come up with modern designs… if it wanted to.

So we’re dealing with a polycarbonate shell, with a SilverCool antibacterial interior lining which is removable and washable, ensuring odors and dirt can be eliminated effortlessly, and this is very nice. The lid is DOT-approved and comes with a double-d ring fastening system and an internal sun shield which is said to block out 95% of the UV radiation.

Due to the scarcity of photos it’s hard to tell whether the sun shield deployment system is located in the left side of the shell or it is the old-school, they-kind-of-don’t-use-this-anymore large button on the top. Either way, we’re positive that a lot of Harley-Davidson riders will be happy to add more protection to their heads.

At $250 (€181) the Harley-Davidson Visionary modular helmet is fairly decently priced, even though the ventilation system does not seem to be that advanced as its name (Advanced Channeling Ventilation System) wants us to believe. The 3 lb. 6 oz (1,530 grams) Visionary is available in sizes XS through 2XL.
