Harley-Davidson Iron 883 Unveiled

Harley-Davidson rolled out the new Iron 883 model, a Dark Custom motorcycle that will cost “only” $7,899 MSRP. But more importantly, says Harley, is the fact this bike leaves plenty of freedom for customization, being especially addressed to young riders who are looking for an attractive and affordable motorcycle.

“The Iron 883 defies the plastic conventions of other motorcycles at this price,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s got old school style, a new school ride and gives the owner a platform for creative customization.”

Just like its name suggests, the bike is powered by an 883cc Evolution powertrain with black covers but it also features a bunch of different functions supposed to improve performance and ride comfort. For instance, it comes with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection, also known as ESPFI, which brings “plenty of power for the city scene,” as Harley praised it in a press statement. The dual exhaust system is especially meant to produce the Harley-Davidson V-Twin sound, it added.

“As the latest of the Harley-Davidson Dark Custom motorcycles, the Iron 883 is stripped down and ripe for custom creativity.”

The bike is almost 100 percent covered in black, sporting a black fuel tank with unique graphics, black front forks with gaiters, black low wise drag style handlebar, black mid-mount foot controls and black low profile front fender. In addition, it is equipped with a solo Sportster classic seat, a classic 3.3-gallon fuel tank plus chrome staggered shorty exhaust with dual mufflers. There are two colors available, namely Black Denim and Brilliant Silver Denim.

Beside all the aforementioned features, Harley-Davidson installed black 13-spoke cast aluminum wheels, 19-inch on front and 16-inch on rear. The most important option is the Harley-Davidson Smart Security System.
