Starting off from a 2013 Softail Heritage Classic, UK’s amazing Shaw Speed & Custom (SS&C) workshop went on to build a bike with a dramatic head-turning factor. Renowned for the jaw-dropping approaches when it comes to radical changes for bikes with common looks, it was only natural to see SS&C coming up with a breathtaking build. By all means, the Gangster will definitely leave no one unimpressed…
The 103 cui (1,690cc) Harley engine got a heap of Rolad Sands Design bits and pieces for adding both custom and retro DNA to the final build. SS&C used RSD engine cases, rocker arm covers, as well as an air cleaner cover. The engine and the transmission remained in pretty much stock trim, with no modifications and no performance upgrades other than a Screamin’ Eagle ECU, and the Gangster was more of an aesthetics-focused job.

The suspension was however lowered for both the front and the rear ends, helping SS&C add even more retro styling to this bike. The stock wheels have been tossed and replaced with killer wire-spoked Ride Wright units, a 21” rim for the front and an 18” one in the rear, both now shod with elegant white-walled tires which hark back to the early days of motorcycling.

Shaw Speed & Custom also used a seat from the same era, having ditched the passenger saddle as stock equipment, and providing the Gangster with an 1925 solo H-D seat. When riding with a pillion, the rider can install the (now) optional second seat, with a backrest and even studded leather saddlebags for overnight hauls.

Ample beach bars have replaced the stock ones, and SS&C made liberal use of chrome for pretty much any detail which could receive a shiny coating. Split, dual fishtail Vance & Hines exhausts, also in chrome have been installed on the Gangster for an undeniable retro attire. Image Design Custom took care of the graphics and the paint job, while the elements in need of powder coating and the impeccable polish were done in-house by SS&C. The fenders and the tank are also Harley-Davidson stock parts but have been “revisited” by Shaw’s workshop.

The list of smaller bits and pieces installed on the Gangster is of course longer, all of them contributing to the overall preciousness of this custom Harley.
