Harley-Davidson Blackline Becomes Gentleman 39

When it comes to customizing Harley-Davidson machines, Shaw Speed & Custom is one of the workshops with the strongest and boldest personality, and their bikes are amazingly different from what others create. So that's how this Blackline became Gentleman 39...

Shaw's Head Customizer Neil Sefton had a vision and claimed that this showcase H-D should boast on the classic attire of the bikes from the 30s and 40s, but with the build quality of modern motorcycles.

So the Blackline was stripped down to the bare frame, hand the paint was then removed by hand, and re-welded in all the areas, while the clear powder coating maintained the shine of the metal and the beautiful rainbow-effect of the new welding.

Knucklehead-type rocker covers came in place for a classic look and a cream mellow paint was chosen for a time-approved, nostalgic attire. The relocated retro headlight now sits lower in the fork assembly and its golden trim is as era-correct as we'd ever want it to be.

Shaw Speed & Custom went on and added heavy modifications to the fuel tank for a more retro look and a consistent, flowing line. The rear of the bike was also changed, the in-frame original seat tossed and replaced by a leather leaf-sprung solo unit we get see rather rarely these days.

Both front and rear got 16" laced wheels show with classic Firestone tires, a nifty final touch matching the Art Deco accents on the fork and primary.
