It may sound like utter blasphemy for some, but that's what some Indian moto industry winds whisper: we might see the Motor Company building small-displacement bikes soon. And by small displacement, 250-300cc range bikes are envisioned.
After unveiling their first truly new motorcycles in quite a long time, the Dark Custom-series Street 500 and Street 750, we might see Harley-Davidson making an even more radical move in the industry and aiming to get a bigger chunk from the cake the likes of Bajaj, Hero or Royal Enfield currently share.
The Indian source mentions that two people which are reportedly close to the design team claim the new bikes are already under development.
They also allegedly claim that the engine and transmission, alongside the design of the new machines will be 100% H-D, while the rest of the parts will come from select local manufacturers.
Harley-Davidson India managing director Anoop Prakash reportedly said that the company would not comment on the matter.
