We’re pretty sure some of you can’t wait to lay hands on the all-new Toyota Aygo. We understand that and also would like to bring you some good news - the four-door city car is closer than you may think as its production already begun in the Czech Republic.
Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobiles (TPCA) just announced the start of production on the new Toyota Aygo in the joint venture’s plant located in Kolin. All three models are being made there - Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 - but we expect Toyota’s model to be more exciting to drive.
At least it looks the most interesting out of the trio, with its X-designed front end and tons of customization options along with a sharp steering and a tight suspension.
The automaker said the production started with around 300 vehicles rolling off the line per day, one coming out every 55 seconds. However, next week, they plan to increase production to more than 700 units per day and by the beginning of June, the plant is expected to roll out over 1,000 cars each day.
This means that wherever you are in Europe, your dealership will have at least a 2015 Aygo by the beginning of July so don’t forget to check with them regularly for updates.
Sadly though, we can’t provide you with pricing and detailed specs as the automaker said nothing so far. All we can tell is that the new car will be available with the company’s improved 3-cylinder 1-liter gasoline engine mated to a manual transmission which will provide a class leading fuel consumption of 3.8 l/100 km and only 88 g/km CO2.
