Hamilton Skips Malaysia Preparations to Watch Brother Racing Debut

Lewis Hamilton will make a 21,000 km round trip from Malaysia to Great Britain in order to watch the racing debut of his younger brother Nicolas this weekend.

As confirmed a couple of months back, 19-year old Nicolas Hamilton will be one of the big names (even though he hasn't made a name out of himself in motor racing so far) to compete in the Brands Hatch round of this year's UK Renault Clio Cup.

While details of his full programme in 2011 have not yet been disclosed, what we do know is that Nicolas will drive a Renault Clio prepared by Total Control Racing this Saturday.

And since he has used many of Formula 1's fans with his presence in the McLaren garage over the years, even after the management relationship between his brother Lewis and father Anthony had ended, Nicolas will now be returned the favor by his world champion of a brother.

Even though McLaren have already reached Malaysia and started preparations for the upcoming race, that will certainly not keep Ham away from watching the racing debut of his younger brother.

I am the closest person to him but even I cannot comprehend what it must have been like to have the difficulties he has had,” said Hamilton, according to planetf1.com, citing the Reuters news agency. Nicolas is suffering from cerebral palsy.

I'm so proud of him. I'll just head back to see his qualifying and race and then pop back out. It's cool,” added the McLaren driver.
