Hamilton Happier than Ever with 2010 F1 Stewards

Following some light criticism over the latent stewarding system in the 2010 Formula One championship – the FIA allowed one former GP driver to observe the stewards at work and provide advices when necessary – Lewis Hamilton insisted that he has never been more happy with how the stewards are making their decisions than in this ongoing campaign.

The McLaren driver has pulled some controversial maneuvers in 2 of the 4 races completed so far. In Australia, he did some excessive weaving on straight line ahead of Renault's Vitaly Petrov, while in China he raced against Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel in the pit lane. In neither of those two cases, the Brit was not penalized, but handed a warning and reprimand respectively.

“I think the FIA and their racing stewards this year, they've been the best that I've probably experienced in Formula 1. It's difficult (for the stewards) in Formula 1; we're all there to race, to have a good time; we're not to there to mess around,” said Hamilton, while present in a Vodafone promotion in South Africa, at the former F1 circuit of Kyalami, according to Autosport.

“For sure we're all pushing the boundaries and rules are rules, but I think this year it's been a lot more fair and definitely more consistent and more racing has been (the result). Us drivers are now not afraid to have a real battle with someone, without the worry of risking a penalty and I think that's fantastic,” added the Brit, who was the victim of some ruthless penalties in his championship winning year 2008.

“(The stewards) are doing a fantastic job and I think that's what's also contributing to such great racing so far (this season),” concluded the Brit.
