Hamilton Aims for Title Chance in Abu Dhabi

Lewis Hamilton doesn't hold the best chances of winning his second world title in career, but the British racer has a clear goal in mind when tackling the Brazilian Grand Prix two weekends from now: score a result that would keep him inside the title fight for one more race, meaning until the season finale at Abu Dhabi.

The McLaren racer is 3rd overall, 21 points behind championship leader Fernando Alonso, but what's worse is that his MP4-25 car is also trailing the Ferrari F10 and Red Bull RB6 in terms of performance. And, given that the tracks at Interlagos and Abu Dhabi are not exactly McLaren friendly, hope and push like hell is about all Lewis can do in order to keep his odds alive.

It's going to be tough - we saw again in Korea that we've probably only got the third-fastest car, so we're probably not the favourites - but that's okay,” said Hamilton in a preview for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

McLaren will bring some slight updates to their MP4-25 at Interlagos, which will hopefully help the British team close the gap on their rivals. However, Ham will not necessarily gun for victory next weekend, but for an opportunity to go all or nothing in Abu Dhabi.

At this stage, the aim has to be to go to Abu Dhabi with a mathematical possibility of winning the title. As we've seen so many times before, anything can happen at the final race, so Brazil will be all about prolonging the challenge and then maximizing everything for Abu Dhabi.”

Of course, it would be nice to take a win at Interlagos, but we're taking it all one step at a time at the moment,” he added.
