Hamilton: 2010 Car is Most Important

Reigning Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton once again tried to put some of the pressure off his team following a disappointing first half of the season, insisting that the catastrophic 2009 campaign should not be regarded as a total failure for the Woking based team. On a personal level, he revealed he learned so much from the first 8 races this year, both professional and sporting-wise.

Having been through a lot during the lie-gate, Hamilton reckoned he has learned to trust his instincts more than before and think twice before doing what is required of him by a member of his team's staff.

Hard times help to build your character. In the last few months I've grown up a lot because I learned how to deal with setbacks. In that way this year has probably helped me in a personal sense more than any other before it,” Hamilton was quoted as saying by Germany's Sport Bild.

He insisted that, if ever confronted with the same situation as in Australian, “I would take a step back and listen to my instincts. The doubts I had, about whether I should be lying, I would take much more seriously.

In addition, Hamilton insisted he has already put this season behind him – in terms of on track performances – and once again stressed the importance of McLaren having a race winning car at the beginning of next year.

It doesn't really interest us anymore where we are at the end of the championship. We have to do everything we can now to make sure we have the best car in the field next year,” added the 24-year old Brit.
