Hamann Tunes Up an X6

Days away from their Volcano release, a tuned SLR, Hamann takes center stage again with a new concept, this time a BMW X6, a car that blends the ruggedness of an SUV with the sportiness of a coupe, or, in other words, a crossover.

Hamann intends to extend X6's sporty character even further. In order to do that they've fiddled with the car's aerodynamics and the motor along with the running gear. In addition to the new look of the car's exterior, the interior was also customized to turn into a true upper class SUV.

The Laupheim-based refiner took the xDrive35i with its 360 hp and 256 kW performance up by 140 Nm. The speed limited was taken off the car and now the top speed is 275 km/h. The diesel version was also pumped up to deliver more power by re-programing the serial motronics. All of the exhaust is eliminated via the custom mufflers that are specially designed to fit numerous performance kits. It comes in double-pipe but also as a 4-pipe system.

The body kit was built with optimal airflow in mind. The front skirt features a sexy LED light for daytime travel, but there is also a three part rear casing and a roof spoiler that make up the body kit. The size of the spoiler is up to the customer as Hamann offers a series of alternatives. An ultra light carbon version is also available.

The customization options are even more varied when it comes to the rims, especially the 23-inch Design Edition Race Adonized that can be varnished black and fitted with titanium bolts. In order to fit under the car, the suspension was modified and the ride height lowered, also having an effect on the car's center of gravity.

Inside the car, aluminum accents can be ordered as extras. These include pedals, foot rests and dash inserts. Also for the dash, the customer can opt for carbon fibre, a new instrument dial which goes all the way up to 300 km/h and a 3-spoke steering wheel.
