Halo's Warthog Is Coming to Forza Horizon 3

On a list of iconic video games vehicles, the M12 Force Application Vehicle - also known as the Warthog - will have to occupy one of the highest spots. Usually driven by one equally famous character, the Master Chief, it was used to navigate the vast maps provided by Halo, the game that basically launched Microsoft's gaming console, the Xbox.

Another title that's exclusively available on Xbox is the Forza series, a racing simulator that was developed to rival with Sony Playstation's Gran Turismo. While it couldn't quite reach the same level of cult following, the Forza series did provide a decent alternative for those who wanted to play Halo and didn't feel like investing into a second console for their driving thrills.

On September 27, Microsoft will release Forza Horizon 3, the third (doh) installment of the Forza Horizon series and the ninth Forza game overall. That's either an excessive appetite for sequels on Microsoft's part that could make EA's FIFA series jealous or the sign of a very successful title. Or rather both.

The best piece of news for fans of both games is that for the first time in any Forza release, the famous Warthog will be available to drive. Well, not exactly the gun-laden Warthog we know, but a civilian version of it. But fret not, apart from its much-diminished killing capabilities, the new vehicle - called the 2554 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S Warthog CST - is just as good as tackling rough patches of land as the one seen roaming alien planets.

The CST Warthog will be available at launch as a free download for those who have played either Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: the Master Chief Collection. The download codes will be sent out via Xbox Live Message starting Monday, September 5. Those who don't find shooting Covenant forces appealing but would still like to play the Warthog in Forza Horizon 3 will be able to get their hands on the vehicle during a special #Forzathon that will be held next month.
