Hakkinen, Schumacher Star in Mercedes Sunday Driver Commercial

When you have two world champions starring in a commercial just before Christmas, along with a sexy model and three very special cars, one can only assume that success is part of the whole equation. Just to make things clear enough, the aforementioned ingredients are Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen and one good-looking female driver.

The German carmaker chose to promote its 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system in a funny way through a commercial called “Sunday driver.” And it all begins with 2-time F1 champion Mika Hakkinen at the wheel of his E-Klasse Station Wagon, driving calmly in the mountains.

At one point, the Finn tries to pass a classic SL-Klasse, but the curvy road – as well as the slow driver in front of him and – doesn't allow him to do that. In the end, he manages to pass the car, who is driven by none other than 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher. At this point, Hakkinen goes “Aham, I knew it, Sunday driver!”

However, for those of you who think we have spoiled all the fun, take a better look at the commercial for yourselves, as you will find out how the good-looking female driver falls into the whole Mercedes-Benz 4Matic equation.

Needless to say, most of you diehard racing fans watching this commercial are probably thinking of the best overtaking maneuver in the recent history of Formula One – that would be out personal take on it, of course – during the 2000 Belgian Grand Prix, at Spa-Francorchamps. Just in case some of you are having a hard time remembering it, we'll add a video to the news taking you back more than a decade ago. It's no Mercedes-Benz commercial, but trust us, it's worth every second of it.
