Guy Martin has confirmed that he will not make the start in the Tourist Trophy this year and that he plans to focus on other things, even though he is not through with motorbikes.
The charismatic road racer Guy Martin declared previously that he has no intentions of taking part in this year's TT races in the Isle of Man, but many thought it was all a thing caused by the recent crash he was involved in, at the Dundrod race.

Still, it looks like the decision is final, and we won't get to see his whiskers around the starting line in the 2016 edition of the TT. Martin says that the time he spent in the hospital after the Ulster Grand Prix crash helped him make a call.

Unfortunately, for the TT fans, that call was in favor of the Tour Divide, a grueling cycling competition spanning from Canada to Mexico and covering more than 2,700 miles (4,350 km).

His feelings are mixed, and he can't exactly tell what the Tour Divide will do to him. "After the Tour Divide I might never want to see a pushbike again - or never want to go road racing again, I don’t know. [...] maybe I’ll come back next year. Or maybe I’ll find something else interesting to do. I’ve got more interests than just motorbikes and I just think let's bloody have ‘em," Martin says on his Facebook page.

"I'm not done with motorbikes. I’m attempting the Wall of Death record in the spring and having a go at the land speed record in the summer"

However, Guy Marting has no plans to abandon the world of motorcycling altogether, even though he is aware that it's his "brain that needs something else."

Martin says that he has been racing for 11 years in the TT, and all he's done since the age of 18, except fixing trucks, was to test, race, and then start again. His words make it quite clear that he is looking for new challenges, even though from the TT to the Wall of Death record, the distance is significant.

He also mentions a land speed record attempt, most likely with Triumph's Rocket prototype at Bonneville, in case the salt flats are alright this year. Finally, he says that should he come back to road racing, it will be with Team TAS.

Now, can you picture a guy like Guy, with his TV charisma, entering in the daredevil-ish business? Could he become some sort of a new Mythbusters series?
