Guy Martin Goes Rallycross with 600 BHP Ford Focus WRC

It's quite usual to see motorcycle racers performing well when they swap two wheels for four. If anything, Valentino Rossi is doing quite well in this field and is a four-time winner of the Monza Rally Show. Guy Martin is only the latest "bike guy" who announces he will try his hand in a car competition. Martin will temporarily be a racer in the British Rallycross Championship this year.

The charismatic whiskered TT icon will be part of Team RX Racing, and will be behind the wheel of a Ford built by Jos Kuypers. The car is a Ford Focus WRC and produces 600 bhp; it also won the French round of the 2012 European Championship, so we can say that it has a genuine potential.

The car belongs to Ollie O’Donovan and is prepared by Tony Bardy Motorsport. O'Donnovan himself won two British Championship events with it, too.

“I’m sure Guy will have no problem learning to drive the car, but we will go through everything with him at a test session to give him the best chance possible at whichever event he does. We’re all really excited to be working with him, he’s a real racer and I think rallycross will suit him very well," O'Donnovan tells RallycrossWorld.

Martin will also try his hand on an RX150 Buggy powered by a Honda Fireblade engine

Team RX Racing has also prepared a neat surprise for Guy Martin. They expect that the motorcycle race will also want to take their RX150 Buggy out for a spin, and they are making sure Martin will have one available to test.

The RX150 is powered by a Honda Fireblade engine, and such machines usually have a very good power-to-weight ratio that makes them incredibly fun on both tarmac and in the dirt.

It is yet uncertain in which round Guy Martin will be racing, but it looks like it will be later in the year, after he will have finished his standing business with Channel 4. As for the motorcycle races he plans to take part in, not a word this time.
