Gumball 3000 2012: Jens Byggmark Gets Speeding Ticket in His Camaro

While this year’s Gumball doesn’t seem as wild as those from the previous years, the police busts are certainly there. A little bit earlier, we showed you Team White’s Rolls Royce Ghost being pulled over and while the reason of that is still unknown, we can tell you for sure why Jens Byggmark’s Camaro was stopped: speeding.
The adjacent clip, which comes from Youtube user Schmee150, shows the entire bust. Jens is caught doing 81 mph (130 km/h) in a 65 mph zone (105 km/h), with two patrol cars pulling his black Camaro SS over.

One officer comes to the muscle car and it’s easy to see that he’s pretty angry, despite the fact that the team hadn’t exceeded the limit by that much (we are not encouraging speeding, this is maths).

Jens is asked to step out of the vehicle and in the end he gets a $120 (95.5 EUR ) fine. However, when he comes back, he explains that the cop had registered him doing 78 mph (126 km/h), but had seen 81 (130 km/h) on the display before, so getting fined for what the policeman “saw” ins’t quite legal, but Jens just didn’t want any more arguing so he settled for that.

The 2012 Gumball Rally is taking participants on the following route: New York City (start, May 25th); Toronto, Canada (May 25th); Indianapolis (May 26th-27th); Kansas City (May 28th); Santa Fe (May 29th); Las Vegas (May 30th); Los Angeles (finish, May 31st).
