Gulf Racing Porsche 917 Spotted at Villa d'Este

When it comes to Porsche racing legends, they don’t get much better than this, the 917K in the livery of Gulf Racing.
This car gave Porsche its first wins at the 2012 Hours of Le Mans back in 1970 and 1971, and it was caputured on the move for the first time this year at the 2012 Concours Villa d'Este by Speedspot.

This is the 917K version of the car that came with the short tail developed by Golf team. This solved the handling problems that the 917LH came with. Porsche then officially adopted these changes on their own cars.

This is the first time that they produced a 12-cylinder racing engine. The driver sat on the gas tank, and the driver had his feet in front of the center line of the front wheels. Those were the phenomenal crazy days!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
