GTbyCitroen Goes to Nurburgring and Le Mans

...not actually to race, but to show off. The concept car made by Citroen and first introduced at the Paris Motor Show last year, will be attending the 24 Hours of Nurburgring race on May 23 as sort of a special guest. And that's not all.

The May 23 race will start with what Citroen calls "a lap of honor on the legendary track". The car can be seen up close and personal on the French manufacturer's partner stand (Polyphony) throughout the duration of the race, on Sunday.

As we said, Citroen has big plans for the GTbyCitroen. After concluding its business with the Nurburgring track, the concept will head for Le Mans, to take part in the "Grande Parade des Pilotes". The event, scheduled to take place on June 12, is the presentation of the 180 drivers and 50 teams which will take part in the race.

July is also a busy month for GTbyCitroen, as it will go to Britain, to star in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in between July 3 and 5.

To remind you a bit of the GTbyCitroen, it was initially inspired by by a video game, namely Gran Turismo V. Citroen has even talked in early March of a production version of the concept, and its appearance at this year's events may be a signal that the car will be produced, even if in limited numbers. "We are now thinking of a limited run, possibly as many as 20 units," Vincent Besson, Citroen's head said last month.

Unfortunately, all those little number that make up a car (displacement, torque, horsepower, range and so on) are almost nonexistent at this point. An American sourced V8 is the most rumored choice, yet nothing has been yet confirmed.
