One family in Greenwood, Indiana, wants the police and the public to catch the Grinch that nearly ruined their Christmas when he plowed his black SUV through the inflatable Santa resting on their front lawn.
Arnold RTV6 Indianapolis that she, her husband and the kids were inside when it happened; they had just popped in a Christmas movie and were drinking hot chocolate, when they heard a sound like a bang. They walked out to find tire tracks on their front lawn, which made them look back on surveillance footage to see who had driven by.
To their surprise, it wasn’t someone they knew and it wasn’t an accident. Someone had deliberately run over their garden decoration, after pulling over, getting out of the car and inspecting it carefully. This was a random attack, but it was deliberate down to the last moment.
“It's very disturbing to see someone pull in front of your house, get out of the car, look at the scene - kind of look around with intention to do damage,” Arnold tells the media outlet. “It's kinda scary because ya know, we both have young children. There's lots of young children around here, you never know who could be out and about.”
The inflatable Santa cost about $100, but it’s not for the money that the Arnolds reported the incident to the police, but because they feel violated, no longer safe in their home.
“It was pretty puzzling and frightening all at the same time. Just kind of feeling a bit unsafe, violated,” Arnold says. “Get this person caught and, ya know, keep them from damaging other people's properties.”
That’s also why they’re making the video public on social media and to news outlets: they want the Grinch caught before he wrecks any more Christmas decorations.
