The guys over at Evolution Performance seem to be unstoppable on the drag strip. Just one month after setting an impressive 8.94-second quarter mile record run with a beefed-up 2013 Shelby GT500, the company returned to improve their benchmark by almost half a second.
Now the fastest 2011+ Ford Mustang in the world, this 2013 model year Mustang GT, dubbed “Green Goblin”, set a new record with an amazing 8.46 second pass at 163.3 miles per hour (262.8 km/h). What’s under that hood? Glad you ask. Evolution performance used an L&M Racing Engines 5.0-liter V8 tuned by Lund Racing, a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharge with Ford Racing 10-rib pulley system and a Slawko Racing CMC heads and intake manifold.
Other enhancements include Ford Racing oval throttle body, JLT “Super Big Air” 155mm cold air intake, American Racing 2-inch longtube headers and ATI Racing 20% overdrive damper. Now scroll down to watch almost five minutes of “Green Goblin” footage from last weekend’s McLeod Racing NMRA Ford Nationals.
