Gran Turismo 5 Release Date: November. 2010. Hopefully.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, this Geneva Auto Show for the gaming industry, was the perfect venue for Sony to announce, once again, a release date for the eagerly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 for the PlayStation 3.

According to Sony, the release date in the US for the racing game to cap all racing games is November 2, five years after the release of the previous title and a little under a year after the initial release date.

"GT5 has long been one of the industry’s long anticipated titles,” Jack Tretton, president and chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America was quoted as saying at a press conference by The New York Times. “And we’re finally about to get our hands on Polyphony’s masterpiece.”

According to Sony, the delays were caused by the difficulties Polyphony Digital, the developer of the game, faced while trying to introduce 3D support.

According to the info coming from E3, GT5 will boast a garage of no less than 1,000 cars, 800 standard and 200 premium. The premium ones will be build with greater attention to detail, so we reckon everybody will go for that ones, rending the other 800 cars useless... But hey, what do we know?

In all, GT5 features 35 courses with more than 60 layouts planned and offers Ad hoc multiplayer races and trading or sharing cars, enabling players to explore a new range of communication methods.

The game will be released both in standard and Collector's Edition, with the latter priced at $99.99. The Edition will give the owner certificate of authenticity with a serial number and a voucher than can be used in order to get five more cars from the PlayStation Network.

Hopefully, this time, the release date will stick. Anyway, we'll keep you posted on what is expected to be one of the biggest exclusive PS3 releases. Ever.
