Gran Turismo 5 Launch Delayed

Hate to tell you “told you so,” but... told you so. Yes, perhaps the most anticipated game in recent years, Gran Turismo 5, proves to be a much tougher nut to crack for Sony and Polyphony Digital. So yes, it has been delayed, again.

A few months back, following several delays caused by more or less obvious reasons, both companies announced the game would be launched in the beginning of November. Now, that date has been pushed to, well, no one knows exactly when.

Polyphony says the game will be launched in the holiday season, but that's not really a precise date, is it? The rivals from EA on the other hand have a solid release date for their Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit: November 16.

When it will finally wrap its head around all the problems and decide to launch the game, Polyphony is on for quite a hit. Analysts, cited by Softpedia, say that the delays will not impact the appeal of the players for the game. If anything, the delays might even cause more hysteria when the game is launched.

"I don't believe a GT5 delay impacts Sony's current momentum," said Jesse Divnich from Capital Research.

"GT5 is such an anticipated title that delays are unlikely to impact consumer's purchase intent. Whether released a week later or the last week of December, sales will be astronomical."
