GP3 Series Confirm 2011 Calendar, Monaco Included

The GP3 Series is preparing for its second outing in 2011, and the championship organizers have thrown a little surprise to the fans across Europe. According to the schedule released for the upcoming season, the series will make one more trip to a European venue this year, namely the famous streets of Monaco.

For the time being, the Monte Carlo round is listed as “yet to be confirmed” by the GP3 officials, pending further evaluations of the location. If no problems occur until the start of the season, the 2011 GP2 Series will practically be ran on all European rounds of the Formula One championship.

The official testing season for the GP2 feeder series will kick off at Paul Ricard circuit, in early March, after which the 10 teams will move to Silverstone (late March) and Barcelona (mid-April) for the last group tests of the off season. Afterwards, the 2011 calendar will look kinda' like this:

05/07 – 05/08 Istanbul
05/21 – 05/22 Barcelona
05/27 – 05/28 Monte Carlo
06/25 – 06/26 Valencia
07/09 – 07/10 Silverstone
07/23 – 07/24 Nurburgring
07/30 – 07/31 Hungaroring
08/27 – 08/28 Spa
09/10 – 09/11 Monza

As in 2010, there will be 10 teams lined up for the new campaign of the GP3 Series, each fielding 3 cars on the grid. The 10 entrants are: ART Grand Prix, Status Grand Prix, Manor Racing, RSC Mucke Motorsport, Carlin, Addax Team, MW Arden, Jenzer Motorsport, Tech 1 Racing and Atech CRS Grand Prix.
