A woman from Utah could teach a masterclass in ‘90s chola makeup and sheer glamor, but she wouldn’t be able to get a passing score in ways to outsmart the cops during routine traffic stops.
The 38-year-old woman, Heather Garcia, was wanted on several outstanding warrants and had the bad luck of being pulled over in Davis County, KABB reports. When her silver BMW came to a stop and she was approached by the deputy to hand over her license (which she didn’t have, btw), she tried the oldest trick in the book: she tried to pass for someone else.
That someone else was her own 21-year-old daughter, whose information she fed to the deputy. Because he had found drugs inside the vehicle, they ran a check on the name she gave them and she was busted.
“Davis County Police performed a vehicle search and found drug paraphernalia and a white powdery substance,” the report says. “Officers tried to gather information from Garcia during the arrest. She told officers her name was Mercedes and was born in 1998. […] Once police were able to make a positive ID on Heather Garcia, they discovered she had outstanding warrants.”
Good looks can only take you so far. Garcia was taken into custody, which made it possible for her mugshot to go online, gracing the world with pure, untainted beauty. Work those drawn-in eyebrows and black-liner lips, girl!
As of the time of writing, Garcia remains in custody on those outstanding warrants and the new charges from the traffic stop. These include driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving without insurance, providing false personal information to a peace officer and a handful of drug possession charges.
KABB doesn’t say what the outstanding warrants were for or if Garcia was able to secure legal representation.
