Google’s Latest App Updates Could Actually Fix a Critical Android Auto Issue

As many Android Auto users already know, the experience with the app has been far from flawless lately, but the good news is that Google is already working on a series of fixes that are expected to see daylight rather sooner than later.
Some of these fixes won’t be part of the monthly Android Auto updates but will actually be included in the Google app, which powers the Google Assistant.

At this point, there are several Google Assistant-related issues that Google is investigating, including the “Internet connection is not stable” error, the Bluetooth connection broken down on Sony head units, and the voice commands, like “OK, Google”, not working.

While Google is yet to confirm this, I’m being told that the latest beta builds of the Google app brings fixes for at least one of these issues.

With the voice commands no longer working on LG phones, albeit for now, it’s important to keep in mind that the patch is yet to make its way to a stable version of the Google app.

The Google Assistant team has been hard at work to polish the experience overall, so the last week brought us several new updates.

For example, Google shipped version 11.11.7 beta on May 28, followed by version 11.11.8 beta only a few hours later. Google app version 11.11.9 beta landed on May 29, followed by stable version 11.9.21 later the same day.

While a confirmation about the fixes included in these beta builds does not exist just yet, I’m seeing isolated reports that some bugs in Android Auto are indeed resolved, but I’m guessing Google just needs a bit more time to get everything ready for all users out there.

For the time being, however, you’re still recommended to stick with the stable version of the Google app, as installing the beta could lead to other issues and performance problems.
