Google Street View Shows Street Racing Signs in LA; Watch the Races

You know those times when you are simply driving down the street and you happen to come across some truly fat tire marks? That’s when you can be sure people have been spinning tires trying to get their cars out of the snow street racing. In case you were wondering how popular this illegal activity is, cousin Google has some proof for us.

Google Street View images taken at the intersection of 135th and Main Street in Compton, LA show clear signs of street racing. The tire marks ahead of the traffic light tell the story of cars that have lined up for the race.

It all starts with smaller circles, which marks the spot where the burnout kicked off, continuing towards the traffic light. As for the actual starting line of the races, this can be seen where the heftier black spots are.

Heck, there’s so much rubber on the street that it becomes clear the illegal racers took the time to sprinkle their tires over the asphalt, just like they would do at the drag strip. Yes, in search of extra grip, those guys prepared the area like it was a track.

As we’ve shown you in the past, police too is aware of these illicit activities and constantly tries to discourage them. One one occasion, they even used helicopter assistance to scatter the racers.

Now that you’ve seen the marks, we also want to show you what actually happens at the Compton “speedway” once the sun goes down. The footage below should provide a pretty good view of the races. The racers went as far as heating up the asphalt. Then again, you could expect them to go to such lengths, since at least a part of these races have financial tags attached to them.

Spoiler alert - the burnouts are what you'd call "extra violent" and the guys seem to adore playing with stuff like anti-lag hardware.
