One long-time problem in Android Auto causes Google Assistant to read text messages in a different language than the one configured on the smartphone.
First reported in mid-2019, the error has already received several fixes from Google. This week, the search giant said it introduced even more improvements to make sure everything is working correctly.
In theory, if Google Assistant reads your text messages on Android Auto in a different language than the one you activated on your Android device, the workaround comes down to just a few steps. First, you need to set your phone language again, then configure the Google Assistant voice language. Google says you must always set your primary language preference and then delete any additional entries if they show up.
This way, Google Assistant should read all messages in the correct language. But recently, Google introduced additional polishing to make sure everything is working correctly.
“Since observing this issue, we have launched more holistic multilingual language support across a growing list of countries, and we look forward to expanding coverage for additional regions soon. We are constantly working to make Google Assistant more universally accessible and to that end we want to thank you for this feedback,” a member of the Android Auto explained this week.
If the whole thing still doesn’t work correctly, you need to make sure you updated the Google app to the latest version, as this is the one coming with all improvements and fixes to guarantee a smooth performance.
