Google Releases Google Maps Update for CarPlay Without Most Anticipated Feature

Google has released a new version of Google Maps for iPhone, but unfortunately, the feature that everybody wants is still MIA.
The new version of Google Maps for iOS is 5.43, and it can be downloaded right now from the App Store using this link.

While this release is a very important update, because it includes additional bug fixes as well as new warnings to help during the global health crisis, the most anticipated feature that CarPlay users are waiting for is nowhere to be seen.

More specifically, Apple introduced dashboard support for third-party navigation apps with iOS 13.4, so it’s now up to developers to provide users with such capabilities. In other words, third-party navigation apps like Google Maps and Waze can replace Apple Maps on the CarPlay dashboard and use the navigation card as long as developed themselves want to.

But as it turns out, not all devs are in a rush to make this happen, and Google, which currently offers the most popular navigation apps on CarPlay, seems to be focusing more on other features rather than on the support for the CarPlay dashboard.

The good news is that this new update includes additional bug fixes, and while Google hasn’t provided any specifics in this regard, a more polished experience with the app is without a doubt good news for everyone. Google Maps has become the preferred navigation app on both Android Auto and CarPlay, but it’s no secret that some users have come across various issues on either platform, so all these fixes are clearly welcome.

In the meantime, the only thing we can do is to wait for Google to update Maps with the dashboard support in CarPlay. And yet, you’re still recommended to install this new version of Google Maps to get all the bug fixes on your iPhone and CarPlay too.
