Google Maps is right now the world’s number one navigation app, and while Google is always working on bringing more useful features to the market to make the whole thing more straightforward and convenient, the search giant is also trying to expand the capabilities of its service.
And this week, Google Maps has received another non-navigation update, this time following a partnership between Google and Burger King.
As you could easily figure out when hearing the names of the two companies, Google Maps, as well as Google Search and Google Pay, now make it a lot easier for users to order a Whopper or pretty much any other Burger King menu with just a few taps.
Users running Google Maps on their devices (both Android and iPhone are supported) can simply search for Burger King in the app to see the closest restaurant. This feature is only available for users in the United States, and unfortunately for everybody else, there’s a chance it won’t expand to other markets.
Next, Google Maps should display the Burger King menu, letting you just order what you want to eat straight from the app, It’s that easy, and the whole process doesn’t take more than a few minutes, probably even less if you know what to order.
Customers who use Google Play to pay for their order also receive a cashback, as Google and Burger King are trying to promote contactless payments through the app.
Needless to say, this is the kind of update that expands Google Maps’ capabilities, and this shows how fast the app is evolving to become a stand-alone platform.
In the meantime, Google is also working on other big updates for Google Maps, including a driving mode for Android devices. The new driving mode will replace Android Auto for phones and is currently available for testing in the United States, with Google planning to bring it to all devices out there at some point in 2021.
