Google Investigating Android Auto Shutting Down on Full Phone Charge

Google has recently acknowledged a new problem with Android Auto, explaining that the team is investigating and a patch could go live at some point in the coming updates.
Users complain that Android Auto sometimes shuts down all of a sudden for no clear reason, and after a closer look at this weird behavior, some noticed that the whole thing happens when the phone reaches a full charge.

Wired Android Auto allows the phone to be charged at the same time when the app runs on the car’s screen, but due to a problem whose case is yet to be determined, reaching 100 percent battery level triggers an automatic shut down of Google’s system.

Some say that using Android Auto beyond this point is pretty much impossible, so their only option is to just get behind the wheel with a phone whose battery is almost depleted. It goes without saying this isn’t the most convenient workaround, especially because most people use their cars for the daily commute after previously recharging their phones during the night.

Google says that it’s now investigating this behavior, but without any ETA as to when the patch could go live.

Thanks for all the reports. Our team was able to reproduce this issue and currently investigating. We'll reach out to you If we need more information. Thanks!” the company explains.

The full charge disconnecting appears to happen on the majority of phone brands, including Samsung models, the Google Pixel, and even Huawei smartphones.

And of course, the car model doesn’t make any difference, as so far we’ve seen similar reports for Volkswagen, SEAT, Dacia, Honda, Audi, and other brands. The only option for the time being is to just wait for Google to release a fix or try to connect the phone when the battery of the mobile phone is at a lower level to avoid the disconnecting.
